I have been fascinated by the natural world since a young age when I was lucky enough to live between the UK and Kuwait, enthralled by the environments, inhabitants, forms and functions that make up our planets natural systems.
The older I get the more intrigued I become and the more I am compelled to visually document the scenes I search for and witness.
I consider myself primarily as an artist and I apply this approach to my life and photography. Chasing the light, searching for compositions and scenes to freeze in time that I find beautiful, fascinating, bizarre, mysterious, incredible and narrative laden. These can take many forms and I continue to stretch my horizons in this regard.
I have been a commercial illustrator and model maker for over two decades but have become increasingly more interested in the photographic medium throughout that time, enjoying taking wildlife images, particularly of underwater and macro subjects and scenes.
Shooting mostly around West Cornwall, UK with the majority of my work being captured while snorkeling/freediving and utilizing natural light. When not in the ocean I love to collect images of insects and miniature forms as well as seascapes, wildlife and action scenes
I respect all animals so when photographing them it’s important to me to treat them kindly. I only have images of subjects as found with natural backgrounds. I endeavour to never put an animal in distress or an uncomfortable position. With a strict no relocation policy, no matter how temporary. Finding a scene or an animal acting naturally in a visually appealing situation is what keeps me excited to continue capturing images.
With all wildlife on the decline it is important to document what incredible planet-mates we have and how essential it is to be respectful and caring towards all of them no matter how small or uncute, mega or majestic.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my work.
